Pilates Back Care Workshop

Rebuild Confidence in your Back

35 British pounds
Capel Gosen, Rhydyfelin, Aberystwyth - SY23 4PY

Service Description

Join me for a workshop day on how exercise can help chronic lower back pain. I have been teaching Back Care Pilates for over 20years, working with Fitness Wales, NERS teams delivering and contributing to an NVQ Level 4 Back Care Exercise Practitioner course, and in 2010 was part of the WAG Back Care Steering Group. I have delivered a weekly class to many hundreds of people in the Aberystwyth area, and I am a main point of referral for many of the physio and osteopaths. This day is suitable for fitness professionals and class members and will include practical and theory elements about the spine and lumbopelvic areas. 10:00 – Welcome: Introduction to the day, what we will cover and chance to catch up and let me know of any flare ups or issues that might affect your workshop today. 🧠 10:15 – Understanding Your Spine: A clear, no-jargon look at spinal structure and function so that you are better able to understand how it all works together. ☕ 11:00 – Time for a comfort break, grab a drink, and get what you need for the practical sessions 🧍‍♀️ 11:10 – Posture in Real Life: We will look at how the "Upper and Lower Cross Syndrome" influences our posture, and the possible implications to our continued back pain - and how Pilates can help address these issues. This will be done in a slow workshop set up, where you are able to ask questions and check understanding as we go along. 💪 11:45 – Strength Without Strain: Pelvis & Spine Working Together - understand what is known as "lumbopelvic stability" and how Pilates can help us to improve this. 2:15 – Mind/Body and Pilates. What is a "mind body" workout and how we can use this to improve our neuromuscular patterning. How the Pilates principles of focus, concentration and precision help us to make the most out of each exercise. 🔄 12:50 – Feedback session - take time to reflect on what we have covered today, time to ask questions or go over things that you were not clear about. There will be a printed handout to keep that includes the issues we have covered. Plus a discount code for the Pilates Pelvic Floor session in July.
