Pilates & Your Pelvic Floor
Learn to strengthen the floor with Pilates - Live Workshop
Service Description
Whether it’s childbirth, menopause, prostate problems, chronic back pain or something else affecting your pelvic floor, this one-day course will show how Pilates can help improve the condition and function of this essential muscle group. We'll cover how the pelvic floor works alongside the lower back to support spinal stability, and explore when it’s helpful to strengthen the area — and when stretching and relaxation are more appropriate. You’ll learn about pelvic floor anatomy, the impact of menopause and surgery, and how both weakness and overactivity can affect day-to-day life. We’ll discuss evidence from studies and follow NICE and RCOG guidance throughout. The session includes a mix of slides, discussion, and practical Pilates, using bands and Pilates balls - and you will have a ball to take away with you alongside a handout. The day is designed to help you build confidence in adapting your own Pilates or movement practice — whether you’re dealing with symptoms now or thinking ahead to long-term health. Please bring a mat, a resistance band, and a pillow, and wear warm, comfortable layers.
